The Valle de Passos Tinto DOC Trás-os-Montes is a characterful red wine from Portugal’s mountainous northeast, a region known for its wild landscapes, mineral-rich soils, and strong climatic contrasts. The vineyards of Valle de Passos, located in the Valpaços subregion, benefit from hot summers, cold winters, and an ideal altitude for optimal grape ripening.
This wine is made from a careful blend of indigenous Portuguese grape varieties such as Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Nacional – known for their aromatic depth and finesse.
In the glass, it presents a deep ruby color. The nose offers intense aromas of dark berries, plum, and ripe cherry, accompanied by spicy and slightly balsamic notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with fine-grained tannins and a long, harmonious finish.
A portion of the wine matures in French oak barrels, enhancing its complexity and elegance. Valle de Passos Tinto is an excellent pairing for red meats, game, strong cheeses, and hearty Mediterranean dishes.
