The Coroa d’Ouro Branco DOC Douro is a fresh, aromatic white wine from the renowned Douro region in northern Portugal, produced by the historic Poças winery, a family-owned estate since 1918. First introduced in 1994, this wine showcases the quality and potential of the Douro Valley’s native white grape varieties.
The blend consists of five indigenous grape varieties: Códega (30%), Malvasia Fina (20%), Rabigato (20%), Viosinho (20%), and Moscatel Galego Branco (10%). The grapes come from vines aged between 10 and 30 years and are carefully hand-harvested. After pneumatic pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on fine lees to enhance complexity.
In the glass, Coroa d’Ouro Branco reveals a bright, golden-yellow hue. Its bouquet is fruity with tropical notes such as apricot, green plum, and dessert apples, complemented by a delicate minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with well-balanced acidity and a long, harmonious finish.
With an alcohol content of around 12.5% vol, this wine pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, vegetarian dishes, or simply as a refreshing aperitif. Ideal for warm summer days, it offers an authentic taste experience from the heart of the Douro Valley.
