The Marquês de Borba Colheita Tinto is a Portuguese red wine from the renowned Alentejo region, bearing the DOC Alentejo designation of origin. It is produced by the celebrated winemaker João Portugal Ramos. It is a blend, typically made from grape varieties such as Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Petit Verdot, and Merlot.
In terms of tasting notes, this red wine is characterized by an excellent aromatic concentration. It presents as intensely fruity with notes of dark berries like blackberries and cassis, as well as hints of compote. On the palate, it is well-balanced with smooth tannins and a harmonious blend of fruit and acidity. After fermentation, the wine matures for about six months in second and third-year French and American oak barrels, which adds further structure and spice. As a food pairing, it goes excellently with red meats, game dishes, and traditional Portuguese cuisine. The producer also emphasizes sustainable grape growing.
