The Papa Figos Tinto is a red wine from the Douro region in Portugal, produced by the renowned Casa Ferreirinha. The name “Papa Figos” means “Fig Eater” and refers to the golden oriole, a rare and colorful bird found in this region.
This wine is made from the grape varieties Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional. The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior, with about 25% sourced from the estate-owned Quinta da Leda.
On the nose, the wine is bursting with aromas of juicy strawberries, blackberries, and cherries. On the palate, velvety tannins provide a smooth mouthfeel, while lively acidity balances the ripe fruit flavors and carries them onto the lingering finish.
