The Rosmaninho Superior is an extra virgin olive oil with a protected designation of origin (DOP) from the Trás-os-Montes region in northern Portugal. Produced by the Cooperativa de Olivicultores de Valpaços, which has been operating since 1951, this olive oil is made from the three characteristic olive varieties of the region: Cobrançosa, Madural, and Verdeal.
The oil has a medium aroma of green olives and other fruits, with notes of almonds and a pronounced freshness of green grass. In taste, it displays a well-balanced bitterness and spiciness.
With an acidity level of only 0.2%, the Rosmaninho Superior emphasizes its high quality. This low acidity indicates careful processing and the use of healthy olives.
In 2023 and 2024, the Rosmaninho Superior won several gold medals at international competitions, including the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
The Trás-os-Montes region, characterized by cold winters and hot summers, is located at an average altitude of 400 meters above sea level. These climatic conditions, combined with the soil composition, contribute to the unique terroir and outstanding quality of the Rosmaninho Superior.
