Soalheiro Alvarinho is one of the most iconic wines from Portugal’s Vinho Verde region and a benchmark for the Alvarinho grape. Produced in Monção and Melgaço, the northernmost subregion of Vinho Verde, it comes from granite-rich soils that contribute to its distinct minerality. The wine is fresh, aromatic, and elegant, showing a bright lemon-yellow color and offering a complex nose of citrus fruits, pineapple, peach, and floral notes. On the palate, it is crisp and lively with balanced acidity, subtle texture from lees aging, and a persistent, mineral-driven finish.
With an alcohol content of around 12.5%, Soalheiro Alvarinho is both refreshing and versatile—ideal as an aperitif or paired with seafood, grilled fish, white meats, and light Mediterranean or Asian dishes. Since its first vintage in 1982, it has consistently received high praise and numerous awards. Recent accolades include gold medals at Mundus Vini, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and the Sakura Japan Wine Awards, as well as 94 points from Decanter World Wine Awards and 92 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
Soalheiro Alvarinho stands out as a sophisticated and expressive white wine that combines vibrant fruit, elegance, and structure—perfect for both casual sipping and refined dining.
