The Ameal Loureiro Vinho Verde DOC is a characterful white wine from the renowned Vinho Verde region in the northwest of Portugal, specifically from the Lima Valley subregion, the birthplace of the Loureiro grape. This monovarietal wine is made exclusively from hand-harvested Loureiro grapes grown in the organically farmed vineyards of Quinta do Ameal.
The wine presents a clear, pale yellow color and opens with an intense bouquet of floral and fruity aromas, reminiscent of citrus and green apple. On the palate, it is fresh, vibrant, and well-balanced, with a fine acidity and a lingering, fruity finish. The winemaking process includes gentle whole-bunch pressing, natural fermentation at low temperatures, and aging on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, without the use of oak. This preserves the freshness and purity of the Loureiro grape.
Ameal Loureiro is an excellent choice as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with light dishes such as seafood, grilled fish, salads, and poultry. Its freshness and aromatic profile make it an ideal summer wine. With an alcohol content of around 11.6% and a naturally balanced acidity, it also has good aging potential and can be enjoyed over several years.
This wine is a superb example of the high quality and potential of the Loureiro grape in the Vinho Verde region, offering an authentic taste experience from the north of Portugal.
