The Ramos Pinto Lágrima Tinto is a rare and particularly sweet red Port wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley, crafted by the renowned winery Ramos Pinto.
The name “Lágrima” (meaning “tear” in Portuguese) refers to the free-run must (bica aberta) collected from the lagares, which undergoes only minimal fermentation. With a residual sugar content of about 140 g/l, it is among the sweetest styles of Port.
This cuvée is made from traditional Douro grape varieties: Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is fresh and vibrant, with aromas of ripe grapes, cherries, blackcurrants, sour cherries, raspberries, and a hint of citrus.
On the palate, it is velvety, with smooth, silky tannins and a long, fruit-driven finish.
With an alcohol content of 19.5% and a recommended serving temperature of 6–10 °C, this Port is perfect as an aperitif – enjoyed neat, on the rocks with a slice of lemon, or mixed with tonic or orange juice. It also pairs beautifully with foie gras or fruity desserts.
The Ramos Pinto Lágrima Tinto is an original, fruit-forward Port that delights both connoisseurs and lovers of sweeter wines.
